Because It's Better To Be Irrational With Me Than Rational With Someone Else

An Awkward Moment On The Bus

As I insert the only dollar I had on me into the fare slot, the bus driver tells me the fare increased from $1.00 to $1.25. It was a sudden increase. I certainly did not get the memo. Nobody knew it was going to happen either. I would assume the transportation people would warn people like me (those who carry only the necessary amounts of cash on them) ahead of time.
"I don't have a quarter on me." I admit. I was to ashamed to show how embarassed I was about the situation.
"That's fine. Just pay the difference tomorrow." He says. I was down with that.
As I go to sit down, a guy on a wheelchair, a beggar if you will (I see him everyday on the bus, and then everyday on my coffee run as he begs me for money) pulls out a quarter and points it in my face.
"Miss! Miss! I could lend you one!" He waves the quarter so everybody in the bus could see that he actually had one.
I politely say I am fine. I will not, I repeat, I will NOT owe any money to a beggar.

I carry extra quarters from then on. Just one, to be exact. Just in case I need to pay for toilet paper or some other ridiculousness.
