I was reading about the Icelandic Financial Crisis when I remembered a survey in my university's daily paper. I don't remember the question or the answer verbatim, but this is how it went:
Q: As a student, how is the economic crisis affecting you?
and the best answer in the whole wide world:
A: I don't know what's going on, but my mom said I might not be able to go abroad this summer.

Sweetie, where have you been in the past SIX or so years during which this time the economy of this country has oh-so-steadily declined?! You know the world is going to shitters, when I -a person who refuses to read the news- know more about the world than the general public.
